BERKELEY HEIGHTS YOUTH SOCCER CLUB, INC
Participate in the world's most beautiful game
The Berkeley Heights Youth Soccer Club, Inc is a 501c3 organization that supports traveling soccer teams for the youth of Berkeley Heights and is affiliated with New Jersey Youth Soccer (NJYS). Club teams currently play in Mid-New Jersey Youth Soccer Association (MNJYSA), Intercounty Youth Soccer League (ICYSL) and Jersey Area Girls Soccer (JAGS). The club also presently supports a recreational Soccer Development Academy (SDA) and a recreational Soccer Development Academy Kindergarten/Pre-K (SDAK/Pre-K) for youths in pre-K through 2nd grade and non-travel 3rd graders.
The traveling program is conducted under the rules and regulations of NJYS/USYSA/USSF. Players are registered to play on an appropriately aged team in accordance with mandatory birth date restrictions. A team is coached by a volunteer coach who has taken and passed the State mandated F license course. Additional F license coaches may be assistant coaches for a team. Some coaches have taken and passed the E license course. Teams also receive professional training. A travel season usually consists of 10 games, usually five home and five away. Travel time may range anywhere from five minutes to an hour and a half. The traveling league soccer seasonal year runs from September to June, with Fall and Spring seasons. Players are expected to commit to a full seasonal year. Practices are scheduled several times a week at the discretion of the coach, including a practice with professional trainers. The Club also provides a separate skills session and a goalkeeping session with professional trainers for all players.
Players in the recreational Soccer Development Academy and the recreational Soccer Development Academy Kindergarten/Pre-K are under the supervision of professional trainers. The programs focus on developmental skills and small game play which prepare the players for travel teams. Both programs do not involve travel. The sessions are scheduled once a week. For SDA only, the Club also provides a separate skills session with professional trainers.
Programs are funded through registration fees. The Club also has scholarships for players who are unable to afford the registration fees.
The Club seeks to provide the opportunity for as many children as possible to be involved in soccer, not only as a physical sport, but to develop an appreciation for a team experience and a respect for others involved in the sport. A player should develop physically as well as mentally and socially. A player should learn the value of commitment, strive to do his/her best and always be supportive of teammates, coaches and all others involved who give their time to provide an enjoyable experience for others. The club seeks to supports programs for soccer players of all skill levels.
